About

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God. who loved me and gave himself for me.

This scripture guides everything Rising Life is and believes in. It is evident in their songs and the way they live their lives. The power of this scripture becomes clear when you learn the beginnings of
Rising Life and the way in which the Lord is using them to spread the truth of his son Jesus Christ.

Rising Life began with singer/songwriter Heath Glisson who started his journey in a country church singing at age 4. Heath’s life took many paths; but, through a seemingly random series of events, he ended up in the small western Kentucky town of Calvert City and took his family to Calvert City United Methodist Church. Heath now realizes that all of these events were moved by the hand of God.

Heath became close friends with several people at the mid-sized church and ended up playing in the worship group. Before long he found himself leading worship and after and experience at a Jason Crabb concert, gave his life up for the ministry using his music as his driving force. He wrote several songs quickly and started the work for putting together musicians. Once he found Brian Butler, an experienced drummer who had played in worship bands before and toured for 15 years with the Sounds of Faith, the final piece was in place and the band was ready to go.  Rising Life released their debut album in front of a packed house on April 22, 2012 at Calvert City United Methodist.

Heath tells more about the idea behind Rising Life’s live experiences. We of course wanted to minister through our album, but we wanted to bands live experience to be one unlike anything seen locally. We have lights, smoke, huge 20 foot movie screens, multimedia, and much more. We want folks to come away feeling like they have seen something that possibly they have never seen before, but also through that, to be moved in the spirit and realize this life is meant for more than how we are living it.”

Rising Life was on to something because from that point they were on an upward journey with and through the Lord. They played many more large concerts and fund raisers for things like mission trips, but also ended up opening for Jeremy Camp at Atlanta Fest 2012 in front of 20,000 fans. Then it culminated with opening for Grammy winner Jason Crabb in Sept. 2012 bringing Heath’s ministry full circle from where it had began. Add a television experience and the start of a new album, Rising Life had a huge year through the Lord and made friends all over the region and also many through out the country.

As the band entered 2013 recording had began on a new album. Some member shifts brought in Kristy Glisson, Heath’s wife, on keys, and Heath’s lifelong friend John Roland on bass. Their second album tentatively titled “Heart in Flames” is scheduled for a spring 2013 release.
